FIRST SUMMER MARKET - SATURDAY, JUNE 4th

I am pleased to announce the start of the Summer Farmers' Market on Saturday, June 4th!

Join us in the Mural Parking Lot (81 West Main Street, Wilmington) from 8:30 am - Noon for the first market of the season. The Market begins its weekly schedule from June through October - so we will be there every Saturday morning AND every Wednesday afternoon beginning Wednesday, June 8th. In order to accommodate to the "after work" crowd, our NEW Wednesday hours are now 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

We have a great vendor group this year with both new and returning producers, who will provide you with a diverse variety of the freshest, tastiest local products and unique artisan goods throughout the season.

I am excited to announce several new developments for the 2011 Summer Farmers' Market, especially the launch of our new Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) program and our fun-filled events schedule.


EBT PROGRAM:



Beginning on June 4th, the Farmers' Market will now accept SNAP food assistance benefits (aka food stamps) like cash for applicable food items from authorized vendors. This exciting development makes the Farmers' Market a more accessible and affordable source of fresh, local, nutritious food for all community members.

The 2011 summer season is going to be full of fun & FREE events that the whole family will enjoy.

This June, the Market features the following events:

Saturday, June 4th: OPENING DAY!
Welcome back to the Summer Market! Visit with your returning favorites & meet the newest additions to our great vendor group. Experience the launch of our new EBT program & enjoy live music from Clinton Co. Live from 10 am - Noon.

Wednesday, June 8th—FIRST WEEKDAY MARKET!
Check out our new Wednesday evening hours! Featuring story time with the Wilmington Public Library (6—7 pm).

Saturday, June 11th—SHAPE UP FOR SUMMER
Featuring a FREE yoga class from Main Street Yoga (9—10 am) & a FREE Zumba class from Get Fit (11 am—Noon).

Saturday, June 18th—SPRING INTO SUMMER COOKING
Make the most of your produce with preparation & preservation tips & techniques from the Clinton Co. Homemakers.

Saturday, June 25th— FAMILY FUN DAY
Featuring story time with the Wilmington Public Library (10—11 am), reptile presentation & crafts by Ohio Naturalist Surrey Laskey (11 am—Noon), & food fun with Grow Food, Grow Hope.

Join us for the last "Winter" Farmers' Market in the Mural Parking Lot this Saturday, May 21st from 9:00 am - Noon! Don't worry though - the weekly Summer Markets start two weeks later on Saturday, June 4th! 

While the rain may be making for a soggy start to the summer season, our growers still have a great variety of  local meats, fresh spring produce, delicious baked goods, and much more!

It doesn't get fresher than this! Walnut Ridge Acres offers beautiful salad mixes that don't get picked until you buy them right there at the Market! 

Enjoy the tastes of Spring with our local pork, lamb, chicken, and beef paired with our spring produce and fresh breads. Spice things up with our variety of spice rubs, dip mixes, and chili powders.  And don't forget our farm fresh eggs! Why not treat yourself with our homemade delicious candies, cookies, mini-pies, and a variety of other mouthwatering desserts

The Farmers' Market is fun (and free!) for the whole family. We are gearing up for our exciting summer events schedule by welcoming Mrs. Friend, the Rodger O. Borror Middle School Librarian, and her "Reading is Delicious and Nutritious" themed story time! Your kids can enjoy a fun, educational story while you shop! 

Preschool storytime starts at 10:30 am. 
School-aged storytime starts at 11:00 am.

Don't forget that we are back in the MURAL PARKING LOT (our Summer Market Location) for the remainder of the season. We will be there from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm every market.

Our remaining Spring schedule is: May 7th, and May 21st.
